Chiharu Shiota - 'State of Being'

I went to TarraWarra Museum of Art.

This Japanese artist's installation 'State of Being' is astonishing.
A double bass and a violin are cocooned by a web of black yarn, suspended in the space, creating a fascinating tunnel.
Walking through it, I felt like moving into another dimension.

It's a very intricate work, and beautifully done. It also worked brilliantly as a site specific display.

I've never heard of this artist, but I'll definitely keep an eye on her.

"The threads are interwoven into each other.
Get entangled. Are torn apart.
And disentangle themselves.
It is like a mirror of feeling."
