Oil Painting lesson with Gregory Smith - Day 6

I further enhanced a colour of the objects today, refining contrast and putting some strong highlights.

At first, he told me that he didn't feel like eating these foods on a table, meaning that they didn't look like inviting the viewers.
It was really an interesting point.

For example, lemons were too yellow and chalky. He put Burnt Sienna on the front ones, and suddenly, they all looked more real.

I also put too many highlights on capsicum. He told me that although we can see these highlights, we don't need to put them on the painting.
So, I changed it a bit, and put one big White on its right side.
As you can see, it looked so much nicer.

And, finally, I enhanced background, and all these objects started to pop out. Amazing.

He told me that this is the end of this painting, and I'll start a new one next week.

Greg is really a great teacher.
I'm learning a lot.

Oil on panel. 16 x 20 in.
