Plein Air Oil Painting

It was a very hot day here in Melbourne, 30°. I went back to the same place as yesterday.

It's really tough painting outdoor. I tried to avoid direct sunshine, but, after a while, it became unbearable.
I don't know how all those painters in the past managed that. We don't really get that sense of desparation from beautiful paintings, like, a landscape in snow.

Now that I have some experience painting outdoor, I have far much more appreciation for painting done outdoor.

Today I changed a canvas to a portrait orientation to do something different.

I paid a particular attention to the sky and trees, but, it still looks very boring.

Towards the end of the day, a water polo team started their training. I tried to figure them in the painting very quickly, but, I don't think it's successful.

Oil on panel. 16 x 20 in.
