Oil Painting lesson with Gregory Smith - Day5

Today, I tried to refine each subjects more, starting with figurine on the right.
I was very careful not to do too much details, rather focusing on its three dimensionality.

Greg told me that a tin pot on the left is wrong and suggested that I should do more measurement of its angles.

Then I painted a background lighter, carefully leaving shadow shapes.

I put some colours on the plant, again, not doing much details at this stage.
Greg did a demo on the leave at the bottom. As you can see, he does create a depth of space so easily using simple tonal variations.
Watching him paint is always great. It's really like a magic.

I'm looking forward to the next session.

Work in progress. 16 x 20 in.
