The Antlers at Melbourne Recital Centre

Kate and I went to see this band from Brooklyn, New York.
I wasn't familiar with them, but, oh, what amazing music they create!

I'm not an expert on acoustics, but, somehow, initially I found the vocal sound wasn't so clear. It sounded there was too much echo going on.
Then, half way through, it became much clearer, well, at least to me.
That's when the vocalist/guitarist Peter Silberman asked the audience to stand up, rather than sitting, so, maybe, that had something to do with it.
I definitely felt the energy boost in this beautiful concert hall once the audience stood.
And the band responded to it.

As for the quality of sound making and performance, they were terrific.
With their vocals, drums and two keyboards, the band showed us top-notch craftsmanship.

Together with very sophisticated use of computer programming, beautiful lighting effects, their monumental and lyrical soundscape lingers on in our heads well into midnight.
