True North Arts Festival at Last Peek Studio

This festival is a celebration of arts community in Darebin area, north of Melbourne.
Frank organised a three-day life drawing session, and I went there after work.
Because he had told me that there would be a long pose session as well as short pose, I brought in a small panel and oil paints.
It's been a long time since I painted a nude, so I was very excited to have this opportunity.

Today's model is Stephane, a very experienced model, he creates a dynamic pose one after another.

I covered the panel with Raw Umber wash and started to rub it off with a rag to get a basic shape, and that took me the first session.
Then I put Light Red on the entire body, and started to put mid tones and highlights, using White, Naples Yellow Deep, Burnt Sienna.....

Although I run out of time, I enjoyed painting a nude in oil.

Unfinished. One hour.
Oil on panel. 10 x 12 in.

This is one of drawings I did for a short pose session. He's a joy to draw.

 Pastel on paper. 60 x 80 cm.
20 min.
