'The Salt of the Earth' at NOVA

We went to see this remarkable and enormously touching film about SebastiĆ£o Salgado this evening.

It's a shame that I've never heard of this photographer before, although I recognised some photos shown in the film.

My interest in photography is diminishing after taking up oil painting, but, after seeing his photographs, as diverse as human sufferings to nature and landscape, I acknowledge that it possesses very powerful role of story-telling.

It's beautifully shot with moving soundtrack. One can't help but celebrate this man's life along with his wife, and images he captured. His renewed trust in humanity and its position in the biosphere.

It's a very strong message from a man who has seen the evils of human existence.
