Oil Painting Lesson with Gregory Smith - Day 6

I started today by painting a background and a shirt, keeping in mind of the direction of light.
Greg told me that I overworked a shirt. He reminded me of the order of importance in a painting. It's not a shirt obviously.

I still struggled with skin tones. When I started to put colours in, I forgot about its tonal balance, resulting in a narrower range of tones, therefore losing the depth.

I'm going very slow with this one, but I'm enjoying this challenge. Greg is always a great help.

Work in progress. 16 x 20 in.
