Set aside the idiocy of making today as a public holiday by Victoria Government, I drove to La Page Homestead in Hawkstowe this afternoon.
It's been a long time since I came to paint this place.
Because Kate is away, I asked my artist friend Tim to come along. And he brought his friend Lana, so, it was a mini Paint Out Day.
I struggled a lot today to get a basic shape right. The buildings are squashed, should be longer. Not sure of the tree hanging over them. I should have scaled down overall composition.
I'm reasonably happy with light and shadow of the foreground.
It was a glorious day, and I had a great day with two of very creative artists.
Oil on panel. 11 x 14 in.
