Oil Painting Lesson with Gregory Smith - Day 8

I spent the first half of the class putting a finishing touch to bread.
Interesting thing Greg told me was, there's some grey colours in there which I've never seen.
Also I easily lose warmth in colour. I'm not sure it's because I'm using Burnt Sienna by Daniel Smith, but Winsor Newton one gives much richer colour.

So, this is it. It's been quite a struggle painting this one, but I've learned a lot.

Oil on panel. 16 x 20 in.

After break, I started this one.
Greg put red cloth around it, that's a great idea.

Raw Umber I put on the panel at first was too dark and I was rubbing off the shape of statue with a rag.
Greg told me to put Black in there instead, because in this case the statue is darker than background. Another great advice.
Then I put some colours on.

I'm glad that I didn't draw at first. I was very aware of it this time.
Greg seemed to be very pleased with it :)

Work in progress. 16 x 20 in.
