'Whistler's Mother' exhibition at NGV

At last we've become members!
After lunch at members' lounge, we had a look at this exhibition.

'Arrangement of grey and black No. 1', (wonderful title), stands alone in the main room. Beautiful painting. Very subtle tones of grey.

I can't believe that there are so many people standing next to it, having their photo taken. Infectious disease of modern times, obnoxious sign of self indulgence.

I'm also fascinated by his etchings. They're all great to see. Very confident line drawings and expressive tonal shadings. I like them a lot.

There are some paintings by Australian artists, and this is my favourite. 'Sketch for After breakfast' by McCubbin.

Earlier in the day, we went to see 'Observation- Imagination' by Jan Senbergs at Federation Square.
I haven't seen his works before, only in books, but, I like his style a lot. Charcoal drawings also are very powerful rendition of his apparently abundant imagination.

At the entrance, I found this quote on the wall. Nice!
