This is the same spot I painted a month ago.
About a half way through, a gentleman from the Homestead came up to me and we started to talk. He was taking photos of visitors enjoying this beautiful place.
He said,
"Hi, I'm Andrew. Do you know an artist called Jefferey Smith?"
"No, I've never heard of him."
"Your painting reminds me of his work. Very good."
"Oh, it's very nice of you."
"We have his paintings in the Homestead. You should have a look. He's a previous president of Victorian Artists Society."
"Excuse me? You mean Gregory Smith?"
"Oh, yes. Sorry. I mean Gregory."
"Did you say you have Greg's paintings in the Homestead?"
"Yes, he did some teaching here with his students."
"Well, I am his student!"
So, I rushed in the Homestead, and here they are.
I have to say the room was a bit too dark, but, very beautiful with lots of history. Some of the paintings were done in 2000. So, it was very interesting to see his style changing.
I spent 2.5 hours. After finishing it, I took a walk around the fields. That was very refreshing.
Oil on canvas. 14x18 in.
