Oil painting lesson with Gregory Smith

I focused on the cast today. Its head and the body was too big. I also tried to put more subtle tonal balance on it. The key is always, to establish darks and big shapes.

The bookstand and the book were too small, so I enlarged them. Greg darked them to push them farther back.
He did a demo on flowers. That was great. Firstly putting a solid White on, creating sharp edges, then, paint the variety of tones.
He also pointed out that the metronome needed to be a bit bigger and its angle was wrong.
I finally did some work on the copper vase.

Work in progress. 16x20 in.
