Plein Air Oil Painting

Mercury rising again in Melbourne. Time to evacuate.

I drove to Mornington Peninsula National Park this afternoon. It’s supposed to be 29°C maximum. I had no idea what’s in there, just followed Map on my iPhone.

As it turned out, it was a beautiful place. I arrived at  Blowhole Lookout and set up my easel here.

Although there wasn’t any shade, I managed to finish this one. It wasn’t windy so that helped. Gorgeous views. There were some tourists talking to me but they were mostly nice.
I’m not sure about the foreground that are actually complicated rock formations. I need to ask Greg.
I spent 3 hours.

Oil on canvas. 14x18 in.

Then I walked down stairs to the shore. Magnificent experience, sitting on sand watching all of these. Waves, rocks sands...
I’m glad I found this place.
