Graham Brindley, Robert Malherbe

'Homogeny' by Graham Brindley at Fehily Contemporary in Collingwood is a series of works etched on slate grids.
These large size works explore the connection of ancient material with modern technology.

What I found fascinating is the fact that images are actually drawn with minuscule texts, making them particularly personal.

'Douzieme' by Robert Malherbe at James Makin Gallery features figurative and still life paintings.
His nude paintings are very powerful impasto works.

I was told that he only works from life, and usually finishes in one sitting.
The paintings clearly show his vigorous application of paint, creating very strong sense of immediacy.
