Plein Air Oil Painting

Kate and I went to Kinglake, about an hour drive north of Melbourne.

We really enjoyed the drive. Its meandering road gives us a plenty of visual pleasure, although we still see scars of Black Saturday bush fire.

After lunch, we set up our easels at Frank Thomson Reserve. According to information, this place is "located at the highest point of the district between Kinglake Central and Kinglake on the Whittlesea‐Kinglake Road, offers views to the Melbourne city skyline."

That was so true. It offers a spectacular view.

I'm happy with this one. This time, I think I was able to create convincing distance between where I was and city. That was the biggest challenge of this painting.

It was a beautiful autumn day.

Oil on panel. 16 x 20 in.
