Painting at Mt Buffalo in Bright

We drove to Mt Buffalo, 1 1/2 hour south of Beechworth.
The Great Alpine Road is a beautiful scenic drive, particularly at this time of year.
The colours of poplar trees around Myrtleford were stunning.

It took us 40 minute walk to get to the top of the mountain. The panoramic view from the lookout was breathtaking.

After lunch we decided to paint at Lake Catani, about 30 minutes down from the lookout.
I really liked this setting.

I'm reasonably happy with its overall effect, and its water. However, I think I failed to create the distance again. It all looks very close.
We spent about 2 hours, and it was a great experience.

Oil on panel. 10 x 12 in.

In the morning, we spent half an hour to draw horses in a paddock.
I've never drawn horses, and it was very difficult because they didn't stand still.
We had a great fun patting them, and they are very friendly.
