Oil Painting lesson with Gregory Smith - Day 2

Greg told me to start painting the book at front. I first darkened it, and then lighted its edge.

To make it more believable, I slightly lightened the margin.

I also worked on the book at the back. Greg noticed that the pages were not aligned properly at the centre, so I corrected that. And I did the same thing to the margin, keeping in mind that the right side is brighter than the left side.

I also worked on the wooden ball. It was a great exercise to get its shape right. I made a mistake by painting it too chalky, so I wiped it off and started it again. 

I'm happy with its progress so far. I'll do some more work on vase and others next week.
