Oil Painting Lesson with Gregory Smith - Day 8

After two week break, we're back in the studio.

I brought in a guitar, and I was planning to paint it with a stand, wondering what Greg says.

Initially I put a silver water bottle on the table to hold a green cloth, and Rachel suggested I should put it in the painting.

Then he came up with this amazing composition, changing the angle of the guitar slightly, with books and a water pitcher on the table.
I really liked the setup, and I covered the canvas with Raw Umber.
Then with a rag, I started to rub it off to get some basic shapes.
Greg told me not to fuss about much and put some colours in soon.

I'm happy with the progress so far. I think this is one of the best initial block-in.

I'm looking forward to the next session.

The photo was taken with my iPhone, and it's a bit blurry.
