Painting Trip to Maldon with Gregory Smith - Day 3

We went to Old Castlemaine Goal. This is a historical building up in a hill, and that offers a great view of this charming town.
Kate did a great painting of this landscape.

I'm reasonably happy with this one. The building has a very interesting shape, and I think I got it ok.
The biggest challenge was to paint a brick wall at front. I was carefully watching how Greg was painting. It doesn't look convincing, but that's the best I could do at the moment.

I've started to use Cad Yellow and others to create green by mixing with Ivory Black, and I think my greens have much more varieties, I guess.

Oil on panel. 16 x 20 in.

It was a truly memorable painting trip. Weather couldn't be better. Out stay at Nuggetty Cottage was again fabulous with beautiful bluestone building and fireplace.

We met many artists on this trip sharing same passion for art. That really was the highlight of this journey.

Tons of thanks to Greg for organising this trip. And believe me, he did create many great paintings.

We're looking forward to coming back again and doing more paintings.
