Carlson's Guide to Landscape Painting

Written by John Carlson, a famous American landscape painter, this book was strongly recommended by a painter on Plein Air Podcast.

I was reading it during my painting trip to Majorca.
This is probably the best book on the subject I've ever read. It's an old book and all photos are black and white. There're many negative reviews in Amazon because of that. However, they're all missing the point. I'm sure it was the author's intention to let readers see paintings tonally.

There're so many valuable passages in the book that I can't write them here.  Suffice to say that the chapters on trees and clouds particularly are the best.  I didn't know there's such a thing as aerial perspective, along with linear perspective.
I've learned so much from this book.
