Oil painting lesson with Gregory Smith

It’s always exciting to start a new subject.
Again, Greg helped me with this composition.

I got rid of my bad habit of drawing outlines by now, but, when it comes to rubbing-off, I end up leaving district outlines, defeating a whole purpose.
Greg asked me to take this photo to keep reminding me of that.
It’s all about painting space, not subjects. ‘Hard edges vs soft edges’, the treatment of them is crucial to achieve depth of field.

I’m reasonably happy with this one. It’s a good start.

Work in progress. 16x20 in.
